We are so happy with this generous donation made by Jon Stahley!
This set was hand crafted specifically for the library and allows patrons and passersby to engage in some casual – or intense – games! The Black Locust logs used in construction of this set were donated by Tim Lutgen, owner of Maple Springs Tree Service.
Come sit spell and enjoy playing chess or checkers on this creative outdoor board set! Thank you, Jon Stahley and Tim Lutgen!
The Bemus Point Library congratulates David D’Angelo, winner of the Rocker Drawing!
We are sure he will enjoy the one-of-a-kind rocker, hand-painted by Barb Johnson and donated by the Lenhart!
Thank you to everyone who donated!
Congratulations to Mark Remick, winner of the sun dolphin kayak raffle! Bundle up as you paddle around the lake this fall!
A big thank you to the Bemus Point Study Club for sponsoring the Kayak Raffle. Thank you also to all the generous patrons whose raffle donations will benefit the Bemus Point Library.
What a lovely time was had on our carriage ride on August 25!
Partnering with the Bemus Point Historical Society, the Bemus Point Library was thrilled to offer a historic tour around Bemus Point. Participants enjoyed riding on a horse-drawn carriage and learning about historic landmarks and events in the Village.
If you were unable to participate, swing by the library & pick up a “Self-Guided Village Tour” booklet to learn about some of the history of Bemus Point!
We are thrilled that our Toddler Time with Ms. Jo & Ms. Nancy will be returning to its “academic year” schedule! Starting September 20, 2017, and continuing every Wednesday from 11:30-12:15, toddlers will enjoy an engaging story and activity time! If you have a little one in your life, come join the fun!
Shannon Donovan, Library Director, proudly displays the new laser printer received from “The Blossom Fund”, a grant administered by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. This new printer will be used not only by library staff and volunteers, but also by our patrons needing to print out items.
The Bemus Point Library continues to be the only location in the village where patrons can use computers free of charge; printing, copying, and faxing are also available for a nominal fee. Additionally, patrons can log on to our Wi-Fi network. Please see library staff or volunteers for more information about technology usage at the library.
Recent studies have shown that printed book sales have started to increase and digital book sales have been in decline. That may be a surprising statistic for the “digital age”, but perhaps it is the amount of time that people spend on digital devices that has played a factor in this change. If you want fresh printed titles, come on down to the library and see the numerous books we have for check out & for sale! For more information on this trend, read the article here.
In this digital age of getting information we want with a tap of a finger or click of a button, why would you want to sit down and flip through a magazine? According to Andy Sernovitz, “Everyone needs fresh ideas. When you surf the web, you usually seek out the same stuff every time. Or you see the stuff your friends share.” If you are looking for some specific topics, or haven’t picked up your favorite magazine in a while – chances are, it’s here at the library! We have a wide selection of magazines that just may be what you are looking for! (A small 25 cent donations accepted per magazine.)
We have several new titles that have arrived…and they are going fast! Come on in and check them out!
