Bemus Point Heart and Soul Needs You!
Bemus Point Heart and Soul, the Bemus Point Library’s effort to gather and disseminate the stories that reflect the rich history and identity of the Bemus Point community, is continuing to gather stories. The goal is to find, record, and transcribe the everyday stories and memories of residents and visitors of all ages. Together, those vignettes – told in your own words – will live on the project’s website and will be displayed on thematic panels that can be displayed throughout the village. This project, funded by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, the Ralph C. Sheldon Foundation, and the United Arts Appeal, is a community-building endeavor that showcases the mission of community libraries in the digital age. We need your stories! To sign up, or for more information, please call the library at 386-2274 or visit the Heart and Soul project website.
Annual Book Sale A Success!
The Bemus Point Library Annual Book Sale raised over $1,500 this year thanks to the generous donations and participation of our community of patrons and supporters. We would particularly like to thank all the volunteers from the Bemus Point Study Club who helped to set up, staff the event, and who raised an additional $400 at the Saturday bake sale. The dates for this year’s Book Sale will be July 12 and 13, 2013. Donations will be accepted beginning in March, 2013. Please keep in mind we do not accept textbooks, dictionaries, encyclopedias, condensed books, magazines, or cliff notes. Thanks again for your support.
