Children getting Library Tours

Mrs. Crist -1st Grade Class                        Mrs. DuBois – Pre-K Class

Mrs. Haas – 1st Grade Class

For the last 2 weeks Bemus Point Elementary classes, Pre-k though 2nd grade, have been visiting the library.

Each class was greeted by two library volunteers,  Jo Haumesser and Nancy Thoman.  Jo and Nancy

discussed where everything is located, children’s area, juvenile area, adult sections.  The students were

also told how to apply for a library card ( 1 card works at 38 libraries in the Chautauqua – Cattaraugus

Library System).  They were informed that books can be borrowed for two weeks (unlimited) and

DVD’s for 1 week (limit of 3).  At the end of the visit the students sat on the floor and were read several stories.

On the way out of the library they were given a library bookmark.

Thanks For A Successful Event

The Bemus Point Library is grateful to Ellicottville Brewing Company along with those who supported the Season Opener Event on May 4th.  The event raised $4,305 to support the programs and services of the library.  Everyone had fun with good food and drink, great entertainment with Lakeside Stroll and Dan Vogan; and a basket auction with 50 baskets.  Special thanks goes out to Topper Clemons, EBC Manager and Kirstie Hanson, EBC Event Planner for their imagination and creativity.

Ellicottville Brewing Company hold fundraiser for the Library

Ellicottville Brewing Company will donate to the Bemus Point Library, $1 for each beer sold on Friday, May 4 from 4 p.m. to closing along with all the tips from the bar.  There will also be a basket auction.  These baskets can be seen at the Library before the event.  Music will be provided by Dan Vogan and by Lakeside Stroll.  Come and enjoy a fun evening while supporting the Library.

Bemus Point Library receives grant

The Bemus Point Library received a grant from Chautauqua Region Community Foundation for the purchase of two ergonomic office chairs and a paper shredder.  The chairs provide a more comfortable and healthy experience while reading, working or performing other tasks.  The shredder allows for proper disposal of documents.  The Library is grateful for this generous gift.  Pictured is Shannon Donovan, Library Director sitting in one of the chairs while using the shredder.

Take Your Child to the Library Day

Take Your Child to the Library Day on Saturday, February 3, 2018 was a great success.  11 Children and 6 Adults, assisted by 6 Volunteers and 2 Staff learned how to take a book and turn it into a fun activity for their child using art, music, movement, language and even math and science.  These activities can aid in making the story come to life and help the child to remember the story.
